Hand Embroidery: an introduction with Hannah Wiles

Learn how to sew and make a Christmas tree decoration, the perfect festive gift or hang with pride on your own Christmas tree.

In this beginners workshop, you will learn five decorative and versatile hand embroidery stitches, fundamental to mastering the art of hand embroidery. If you have even a basic knowledge of stitch and want to develop your skill, then this workshop is for you!

With support and practise, you will add each stitch to your own sampler for future reference. Once mastered you will use these fabulous stitches to create a Scandinavian inspired Christmas tree hanging. You will leave the workshop feeling confident with a beautifully hand crafted item, a sampler, step by step instructions, memories of a lovely day and the skills to make many more unique and gorgeous pieces of your own.

All materials will be provided and are yours to takeaway so you can start making immediately. The classes are small, no more than six people to ensure you have all the attention and space to master this skill.

Hannah Wiles is a qualified teacher with a first class honours degree in embroidery and a masters degree in textiles. She has had exhibitions in Manchester, London and Liverpool and have worked with the Royal British Society of Sculptors.

“I am passionate about stitch and truly believe it is a timeless yet contemporary art form and am looking forward to helping you develop this skill in my workshops.”
